Round 2 vs Cleveland — Game 3 loss

Bickerstaff has out-adjusted Cleveland through most of the series, but the half-court keeps stalling the second Cade sits. Same bench-creation hole that's driven every draft conversation since February — now it cost us a game.

  • May 3, 2026
Beat Orlando 4–3 — first playoff series win since 2008

Came back from 3–1 down. Cade closed it with a 36-point Game 7. Ausar swung the defensive matchups. We're officially out of rebuild mode.

  • Feb 3, 2026
    Traded Jaden Ivey to Chicago

Three-team deal with the Bulls and Wolves. Ivey out, Kevin Huerter in (Dario Saric came too and got waived before suiting up), plus the 2026 first-round swap from Minnesota that lands us at #21 instead of #28. Reads like a Langdon win.

  • Summer 2025
    Hired J.B. Bickerstaff

Langdon's first full offseason. Bickerstaff installed a defense-first identity that produced the East's 2nd-best defensive rating and the most disciplined Pistons basketball we've watched in 15 years.

  • In-season
    Cade Cunningham's collapsed lung scare

Cade missed time mid-season but came back at full availability. Closed the year as a legitimate MVP candidate (23.9 / 5.5 / 9.9). The playoff workload (39+ MPG) is the loudest offseason concern.

Draft Needs
  • A stretch big or a 3-and-D wing

One of two archetypes solves the most lineups: a power forward or center who can shoot and defend, or a wing who spaces the floor like Duncan Robinson without giving it back on the other end. Either fit makes the starting five harder to scheme against.

  • Backup self-creation

Cade's usage isn't sustainable. Daniss has covered more of the gap than anyone expected, but a microwave shot-maker off the bench is still the swing skill — the exact thing that went missing in Game 3 against Cleveland.

  • Cade insurance and the Duren call

Two offseason decisions bend the board. Cade's playoff workload makes a real backup creator more than a luxury. And Duren's next contract is the fork — a near-max extension feels like an overpay, while a sign-and-trade for a star-tier fit is the most interesting move on the table.
